Maybe not quite news since the announcement came out in September but my wife (who is from Lodz, Poland) just told me about this:

I regret not going to see Wajda's 1999 version with her when it was making the rounds in theaters; who knows? maybe I (we) will someday get to see Pan Tadeusz silent style.
