The Cameraman on bluray

Post by Buster95 » Sun Mar 31, 2013 8:48 am

I would like to know if copy of Buster Keaton "The cameraman" is available on bluray? If I'm right Kino never offered this movie on DVD?

Warners owns it (and SPITE MARRIAGE), unlike the earlier titles released by Kino. If it's released someday on blu-ray, it would come from Warners.

So the chance to see these movies on bluray are slim. I think I have both of these movies on VHS somewhere (I have a lot of VHS).

Somebody did ask the Warner Archive facebook page about the possibility of them releasing "The Cameraman" and "Spite Marriage" on blu-ray. The Warner people responded by saying that while they would like to do such a release, they didn't have any plans on doing it in the near future. They also stated that they don't currently have HD masters for these two movies. So, maybe there is some hope. For the time being, the TCM Archives DVD set is still available and is good for the most part. If the Warner Archive ever does a blu-ray release for the Cameraman, I hope that they commission Robert Israel or Mont Alto to do a new score because the Arthur Barrow score is very mediocre.
