A recovered rarity

Post by radiotelefonia » Sun Aug 25, 2013 6:46 pm

My friend Andrea Cuarterolo has located UNA NUEVA Y GLORIOSA NACION (THE CHARGE OF THE GAUCHOS) in Italy where it is going to be shown... I'm really eager to watch this film.

Jorge,

:o Again, this is incredible news! I'm surprised that no one has commented on the thread yet.

According to my friend Andrea Cuarterolo (who found the two versions) at least one print has been copied and sent to Library of Congress.

This is great news, the article really goes into detail about this rare film. Hopefully it will find its way to video.
Some of us don't have the luxury to travel to silent film festivals as much as we love to see them on the big screen.

Thank you so much for the news about another silent film discovery. :D

Having looked at the link page I am interested to see the picture captioned from the Collection of Enrique Bouchard. I knew Enrique in the 1970s when he sold me 8mm etc films from Buenos Aires on a regular basis. Anyone else here a former customer of Enrique. He had regular ads in The Classic Film Collector which is where I got the contact. Is Enrique still with us?

Yes... Enrique is still with us. In fact he is one of the two people that have located the Italian print (which has been copied for Library of Congress). There is also a German version that needs to be seen too because the scene in one of the above photos is missing in the Italian print. :)

This scene does appear in the Italian version.

This scene (producer Julián De Ajuria is at left) is still lost in the rediscovered print.
