Post by WaverBoy » Sat Sep 14, 2013 5:53 pm

Four more silent releases from Grapevine in September (I broke down and ordered HOMECOMING):

CINEMA ANTIQUE: The Stencil Color Collection (1903-1910)

This collection includes eighteen re-discovered films many from the famous Pathé Studio from 1906 to 1912, twelve with beautiful and original stencil colors. Digitally transferred from original 35mm for historical preservation they can now be enjoyed again more then a century after their release! Includes authentic period music added from original player rolls for the era and a program insert with details on these rare films.

Speedy,

:) HEIMKEHR is a great film and should be much better known. Can strongly recommend this movie.

I gasped when I saw this one listed. I have had for so long wishing to see this film and finally is here.
You got Lars Hanson, Gustav Fröhlich and Dita Parlo together.

Great ensemble of some of my favourite Actors.

Heimkehr is indeed great - and the Grapevine release is going to be 20 minutes longer than the decidedly ropey copy than has circulated amongst collectors for years.

What does "ropey" mean?

Heimkehr is terrific. Manes and Peña has shown it in their show. Although they have a complete version, they presented the abridged 9.5mm version instead because it has better visual quality. In fact, I saw the broadcast on the Internet just to see the film.
