NitrateVille moving, may look dead at first

Post by Mike Gebert » Tue Apr 28, 2015 7:39 am

The hosting company for NitrateVille has told me that after two failed attempts at switching out things on their end, they're going to be moving us to a new server entirely.

That means that at some point we're going to go dark here (probably with a message that says the account is suspended, as if I didn't pay the bill), and we'll change DNS address, which means it may take a couple of days before going to nitrateville.com actually takes you to the right address. (Think of it as if you sent a letter just to "Bill and Betty Nordlinger," and it took the post office a couple of days to figure out where their new house is.)

So: we will not be gone. We did pay our bill. But there may be a day or two, soon, when you can't get through to NitrateVille, then we'll come back, same as ever. If I get more specific details about when, I'll post them, and as always, the Facebook NitrateVille page is the backup source for the latest info.

With that subject title, you're really playing into RMR's hands...

Yes, but will it be mobile-friendly on the new server?

Will it be empowering?

Thank you Mike for the information.
Even though I do not post as much, Nitrateville is one of the few favourite websites I visit everyday.

Thank you for being constant as well.

Okay, after some back and forth we should be back for good and with a relatively recent backup in place. A few posts may have gotten lost in between, sorry. Some may not see the page until the DNS propagation business happens over the next 24 hours, but we should be done. I hope!
