VCI Entertainment is going to start releasing silent films on DVD starting this fall season. Their first project is "The Birth of a Nation" plus "Intolerance" on a 2-disc set:

Interesting. I see VCI released Birth on VHS with similar artwork, way back in 1999. Although this DVD touts a new score, I wonder whose "digitally restored" transfer they're using?
Regardless, with so many other quality DVD and BD releases around I'd have thought the market was pretty well tapped out for what appears to be yet another fairly undistinguished version.

This edition was made from the only complete copy known to exist, a mint 16mm print of the 1929 7-reel sound reissue.
62 mins, B&W, 1.33:1, 1920, Not Rated
Does this make sense?

-1. It's running at Sound speed.
- 2. It likely had many title cards replaced by narration.
So, yes, a Silent 7 reels could boil down about that way?
