The Smithsonian Institution hosted the “Backstory with the American History Guys” radio program as they examined D.W. Griffith’s film The Birth of a Nation, originally released in 1915.
I hesitated to post this, since after watching most of the program it was evident that the three main hosts were not really discussing the film, but history (The Civil War, Reconstruction, etc.) itself. In addition, it seems like not only were they not film scholars, but they knew little about the film itself and even disliked it (calling it boring, much too long, etc.).
But they did have some guests later in the program who did have knowledge of the film and had some interesting comments. So here is a link for those who may want to look at it:
