I don't expect too much from the Grapevine Video releases in the sense that one anticipates only 16mm quality. But sometimes Jack and Jason Hardy surprise us. A case in point is the newly announced upgrade to CASEY AT THE BAT (1927) starring Wallace Beery, Zazu Pitts, Ford Sterling, and an incredibly young Sterling Holloway. The source for the upgrade seems to be 35mm. Except for abit of screen left cut off and a pesky vertical line that comes and goes, the image quality is terrific with excellent flesh tones. The organ accompaniment by David Knutson also deserves praise.
