A simple search under the Silent Film Survey turns up no info on VOICES OF THE CITY.

The Source is trustworthy. The only other possibility is that it was mistaken for another film called Voices of the City made in 1929. But only the 1921 film has the alternative title The Night Rose. And the link above says director Wallace Worsley and starring actress Leatrice Joy.

Great news if another Chaney feature survives. It's not a perfect world and mistakes can sometimes be made. The LOC database once had Gilda Gray's 1927 "Cabaret"(Paramount) surviving in a foreign archive to my delight. But currently it seems to be back on the 'lost' list again. On the flip side Warner Baxter's "The Telephone Girl" (1927) was long thought lost, but it is consistently listed as being held by EYE Institute. Great all the same.

I once found Hitchcock's THE MOUNTAIN EAGLE (1926) listed amongst the holdings of a South American film archive. I wrote them to ask for more information but never received a reply. And then the title quickly disappeared from their database.

"The MGM vault list includes this film on their list of extant holdings; unfortunately, when the film was recently pulled for inspection, it turned out to be a 1929 MGM film of the same name. VOICES OF THE CITY therefore must return to the list of "lost" Chaney films."
