Happy Anniversary Silent Comedy Mafia

Post by Jim Crane » Fri May 31, 2019 7:52 am

I’m a thirties movie fan who enjoys reading the expert discussions here and elsewhere. In that spirit, I’d like to wish one of your fellow web sites, Silent Comedy Mafia, a Happy 10th Anniversary. I enjoy Richard M. Roberts’ comments in particular and wish he could resume posting here also.

My apologies. I can see that you’re much too civilized for the likes of Richard M. Roberts.

The last damn thing we are going to have around here is a debate on the civility of Richard M. Roberts.

His services to preserving film and releasing Charley Chase shorts, etc. are wonderful things.

Beyond that, I am only going to say that he was separated from further participation here for reasons which were considerably more than sufficient, and given that he cannot respond here, that alone is a good enough reason not to allow this discussion (but it is far from the only one).

He has his own site, where I see that you are not a participant. Check it out!

The nothing if not consistent Mr. Roberts has posted 840 words (I cannot imagine anyone reading it in full) on how it was cowardly of me to remove the attacks on him because I was silencing the praise of the original poster for Silent Comedy Mafia.

I was, of course, removing an attack to which he could not respond here, out of courtesy, an alien concept perhaps to some. But I am happy to oblige and leave this public, per his wishes.

As before, I personally praise Mr. Roberts' contributions in the form of Charley Chase DVDs and the like, and as for my feelings about other matters, I draw a discreet veil.
