Here's an interesting blog at https://friesegreene.com that asks the question, "Did the Lumiere's really put on the first projected movie presentation in 1896?", and as you can guess, the author does not agree...

Along with recent news that the French intellectuals are once again concerned about America’s latest round of cultural shift, and the possibility that this may be the origin of Dr. Seuss’s Grinch, here’s another case of pettifogging.

Isn't this the case with 99% of inventions? The light bulb was more of a gradual invention and there is some serious evidence against Bell inventing the telephone.
