Sunday February 21, noon Pacific Time
Masterclass: Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra
This will be about a 45-minute presentation with question and answer times. Free and open to the public.
I'll talk about our recent pandemic-induced "remote" recording experiences, and how we compiled and recorded a new score for The Three Musketeers, a commission from the Film Preservation Society and the Museum of Modern Art. I'll end by showing some of that recent restoration with the new music. This will get a little more in-depth than my previous talk on The Hunchback of Notre Dame, with showing a bit of the historic musical source material, video of us recording, and a glimpse into where I spend my time editing tracks.
All five of our musicians will be on, so if you have questions about what it's like to operate and/or play in a small silent film orchestra, this is your chance! I'll also talk about my new Photoplay Music Starter Kit.
