Save the Motion Picture Home!
Hey guys I know there was a post about all of it long ago but now I cant find it. Anyways two sites have been started up to try and save the Motion Picture home: http://www.savingthelivesofourown.org/ and http://mptfamily.ning.com/. Please check them out, and for those of you with sites please post about them. Just go look up how many silent folk passed on after a stay at that home/hospital. It needs to continue on, its just so VERY important...

Saving the home is exactly what the Trustees are going to do. I would suggest that anyone interested read the MPTF's website as it corrects much misinformation which is in circulation:

Oh yes, they are also happy to receive your donations. The place is largely supported by payroll deductions from film and television industry workers, and what it achieves is very impressive indeed.

Yes but something isnt quite right...I didnt link to my article because I didnt want to be accused of link whoring but in short they keep claiming this $10 mil loss...yet their tax returns do not support it. Something is very fishy. Lawsuits might occur, and protest needs to be heard. If we just sit back and say 'Whatever' nothing will ever change.DShepFilm wrote:Saving the home is exactly what the Trustees are going to do. One must always be suspiscious when a corporate weasel like Katzenburg says things like "we are "enhancing" the system" rather than "we are cutting back on services" . Don't forget this is the guy who wrote the infamous Katzenburg letter during his Disney years. Kind, generous, and cuddly he is not.

Agreed! I cant remember which executive it was (I wanted to say Lasky or Goldfish but Im not sure) but Mary Pickford mentioned in her autobiography how the fund was going over stories and they anoymously heard about a woman who's husband had done this and that in the industry, died penniless, and left her penniless as well. Mary thought he should have been more careful with his money and everyone voted against it. Then another vote was taken and it was one of those executives wives. They all voted to support her.
I guess what Im trying to say is Katezenberg is a wate of a human being and who knows where he will be in 40 years. I'll personally laugh if it is indeed on the streets.

I find it very sad. The latest update is The Wrap (http://www.thewrap.com/ind-column/1607) found that for 2006 and 2007 the Fund paid out over $20 MILLION in ''consulting fees''...only $5 mil of which went to doctors. A good chunk went to a ''Corbis Agency'' which is a medical consulting firm, who recommended the closure. Umm...if your losing $10 mil a year I think I know where to make the first cut...of course they arent even losing anything but thats apparently beside the point.boblipton wrote:I trust you don't find this exceptional, Hala. I smell this isnt over. It reminds me a lot of the Lou Pearlman scam (I used to do music). For years I told everyone something wasnt right there, and he was scammin big time. Finally it began to trickle out, and by the time it all came out even I couldnt believe just how deep it had run (before Madoff he had claim to 'the biggest ponzi scheme in US history'). Something is very wrong here...and I dont think we've heard the last of it. Even if they (very wrongly) close the home there is way more to this story then we know right now...
