Ed,

:) Appears that KIKI was just on the brink of the Million dollar mark in rentals. So I think there is a pretty good chance that it easily eclipsed that amount. Plus there is a cut-off date here? Meaning anything that took place after that isn't listed in the figures. Again like everything else back than exact figures foreign and domestic seem to be pretty difficult to come by.

I always thought that THE NAVIGATOR was Keaton's highest grossing independent feature? But apparently not by very much, if at all?

Far from the hideous grimaces of Norma Desmond, [Norma] Talmadge’s mime is subtle, flowing and natural, her emotions exact, her transitions graceful. And yet it is a kind of acting that modern audiences inevitably underestimate.
I assume this reviewer understands that Norma Desmond was not a real person.... seems like an odd comparison since he's not talking about Gloria Swanson per se.
