hello everyone,
I'm a newbie here but I love classic cinema and silents. Anyway, I'm trying to start a classic cinema chat once a week so that fans can come together and discuss specific topics for an hour or so.
My classic cinema chat can be accessed either through aol, or AIM chat, so I hope that doesn't make things difficult for those genuinely interested.
We are doing George Steven's week this week to play it safe for those beginners of classic talkies.
Classic Cinema Chat discusses both talkies and silents from period 1890s-1967 . Classic Cinema Chat will be open every Wednesday Night from 10PM ET/7PM PT, and 1AM ET/10PM PT for late nighters. Chats if active will tend to last 45 minutes unless we have some actual interesting conversations going then I'll keep it open till everybody leaves.
Please email me if anybody is interested or has questions or suggestions @ [email protected]
Thank you for your time and hope a few people show up
I HOST A CLASSIC CINEMA CHAT AND COULD USE MORE PEOPLE

After you have a username you can sign in and chat along with us tonight.
Heres the addy. I'll be around all evening in case anybody shows up late
its basically starts now and ends whenever I feel like sleeping

Classic Cinema May 5
email me at oddreyhepburn.com if you want to be a part of this chat
So this week is Cinco De Mayo, and thus a perfect excuse to introduce Mexican Cinema to the classic cinema chat and another way of attracting those that believe classic cinema chat is becoming dead.
As many of you all know, I'm a fan of cinema from different countries and nations because I learn a lot about the culture, history, and artistic styles that these countries offer
I am not an expert of Mexican Cinema by any means, there are so many decades and waves we can discuss it would take several chat sessions to get the full knowledge of this cinema. However, I will offer a quick basic outline of what we can all watch/discuss for Wednesday's chat. (PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ADD ANY MEXICAN FILMS..preferably classic TO THE MIX OR STARS)
CLASSIC EARLY MEXICAN CINEMA/ARTISTS 1900s-1950
Stars of Mexican Descent who were in American Films:
Ramon Novarro- BEN HUR 1925, Scaramouche(1923)
Dolores Del Rio- Resurrection(1927),Ramona(1928),Evangeline(1929)Bird of Paradise(1932),Journey Into Fear(1942),Flaming Star(1960 Hey Elvis is in this!), The Fugitive(1947), and Cheyenne Autumn(1964)
Lupe Velez- Hollywood Party(Laurel and Hardy comedy) and Mexican Spitfire
Pedro Armendariz- From Russia With Love(1963)
Katy Jurado- High Noon(nominated for golden globe for best supporting actress) Arrowhead Broken Lance(academy award nomination) Trapeze, One Eyed Jacks, Barabbas, Stay Away, Joe(opposite Elvis) Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid
Ricardo Montalban- Border Incident(1949) Sayonara(1957)
CINEMATOGRAPHER Gabriel Figueroa-Viva Villa!(howard hawks), Los Olvidados(Luis Bunuel) The Fugitive, The Night of the Iguana
NOTABLE MEXICAN CLASSIC FILMS ONE SHOULD SEE:
Los Olvidados
El Gran Calavera
Viridiana
Alot of people are going to yap at me for not including New Mexican Cinema of the 1990s but we can discuss these newer films and compare them to the older Mexican Cinema periods
Amores Perros
Y Tu Mama Tabien
El Crimen Del Padre Amaro
Obviously all the modern mexican filmmakers and peformances pretty well known in our circle, and I don't have time to list them all so you can do your own research on them
For those that complain I'm not listing the directors or years of all films I had listed, please be aware I'm working on limited time and its up to the participator to decide if they want to do furthur research
Please offer any expertise on Mexican Cinema as I am learning just as everyone else about this wonderful cinema.
I hope you are all excited as I am for this wednesday. Please let me know if Wednesday Nights have been working well with everybody. WEDNESDAY NIGHT 11:00PM ET/ 8:00PM PT
