Wow - a remarkable age for a remarkable woman. I read her autobio just a few months ago and found it one of the most unusual and candid accounts of working in Hollywood's Golden Age. She doesn't spare anybody including herself.

LOL... I meant age, not temperature....
Actually it's cold in Santa Fe and I still have woolen blankets on the bed...
Was 52 degrees when I left the house this morning....

That is as stunning as one those few guys still alive who were in the trenches of WWI....
And, OMG... she met Stroheim, while he was editing FOOLISH WIVES.
That sort of thing defies any comprehension for me...oO

Thank you Thomas for setting the record straight. David Shepherd made a posting last year stating that she had passed on:

His source was a newspaper article of some sort so I can understand the confusion.
I am currently re-reading Hollywood Remembered by Paul Zollo and there is a very insightful chapter of reminicences by Ms. Maas.

While she was probably a talented scenarist/writer, she has a slight Louis Brooks/sour grapes sort of edge to a lot of her anecdotes. I know this edge doesn't make them false but I do get tired of the same old stuff about Joan Crawford, Marion Davies, Norma Shearer, etc.
What I found most interesting was her section on Riza Royce and Josef von Sternberg.
Sagor captures the feel of 20s Hollywood well and I her personal stories of her own career and downfall are fascinating.
