Post by mchghstl » Sun May 29, 2011 6:29 pm

Hello! There is 4 parts up on you tube for the film "The Road to Yesterday" A forgotten mystical classic directed by Cecil B. DeMille -starring Joseph Schildkraut - William Boyd and Jean Goudal. This film has themes of frigidity- reincarnation- witchburning - eternal love and a train wreck .

mchghstls,

David Shepard has said that Film Preservation Associates has a beautiful Fine-Grain 35 millimeter print of this movie. He also said that they might put out a DVD at some point. I would love to see this happen. That's Jetta Goudal by the way, not Jean. And Vera Reynold is also in the picture.

If he does, the Letter from Hollywood trailer (of sorts) would make a find extra featture.

Always interested in silents with a fantastic theme (and, yes, others too)

Bruce,

Those are nice Trade Ad's, but what did you think of the movie? I haven't seen it, though I do have the Sunrise Silents release which came out several years back. Forgot to watch it.

David Shepard's comment was at least three years ago. I also asked about THE VOLGA BOATMAN, which used to be on Laser-disc A version that He produced. Hasn't made it to DVD yet. The new restoration of De Mille's THE GOLDEN BED is stunning based on the AMPAS Trailer that I have seen.
