Buster Keaton Celebration

It’s the 19th annual commemoration of the movies and life of the Piqua, Kan.,-born silent comic. This year’s fest also includes discussion of other Kansas-born filmmakers including Gordon Parks (“Shaft,” “The Learning Tree”), Delbert Mann (“Marty”), adventure filmmakers Martin and Osa Johnson, Louise Brooks and Roscoe “Fatty” Arbuckle and current filmmaker Kevin Willmott (“C.S.A.: The Confederate States of America”).

Organist Marvin Faulwell and percussionist Bob Keckeisen, silent film scholars Hooman Mehran and Frank Scheide and Bill Shaffer of Topeka’s KTWU all will be in attendance.

Among the screenings: Keaton’s “The Balloonatic” and “The Navigator,” the Johnsons’ “Simba” and the Oscar-winning “Marty.”

I'm looking forward it. But I don't think this is the Oscar-winning "Marty" -- it's the original TV version, also directed by Delbert Mann.
