Vidor’s delectable comedy of manners features the riotous and sparkling Marion Davies in one of her best roles as Patricia Harrington, the daughter of an upper class family living in the shadow of her older sister’s sophistication. Davies, who was a talented mimic, impersonates such silent film legends as Lillian Gish, Pola Negri and Mae Murray.

This Jazz Age fable is an equally reflexive and sophisticated complement to the same duo’s exquisite Show People. With Marie Dressler.
