D.W. Griffith made such classics as The Birth of a Nation and Intolerance to great reception and reward. Broken Blossoms, his next film and alternatively titled The Yellow Man and The Girl, handled the then-delicate subjects of race relations and child abuse. The film was received with great reviews and has become a silent classic.
