"Dr. Mabuse The Gambler" (1922) Provincetown, MA

Hey All,

This Thursday I will be showing on Reel Film a 8mm Cine-Service Vintage Films print of "Dr. Mabuse The Gambler" (German: Dr. Mabuse, der Spieler) this is the first film in the Dr. Mabuse series, about the character Doctor Mabuse who was featured in the novels of Norbert Jacques. It was Directed by Fritz Lang and released in 1922. The film is silent and was filmed mostly at 16 frames per second. Mary J. Martin will be playing piano, and electric ukulele along with the film.

It would be followed by The Testament of Dr. Mabuse (1933) and The Thousand Eyes of Dr. Mabuse (1960). This film is included in the book 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die, being the first of five Lang films to be entered.

Films will be shown every Thursday night through March at 7:30PM at The Schoolhouse in The WOMR Davis Space 494 Commercial St. in Provincetown, MA. There will be a $5 dollar suggested donation to help support WOMR, which is community supported radio in Provincetown. Free popcorn will be supplied by The Provincetown Inn. Beer,Wine, and Soda will be available for donation too.
