Hey Al,

This Thursday November 20th, I will be showing a 16mm print of "The Eagle" (1925) Directed by Clarence Brown Starring Rudolf Valentino, Vilma Banky, and Louise Dresser. The film will be accompanied by a Donald Lee transfer from the tapes of a recording of Gaylord Carter playing the Wurlitzer. These tapes were originally used for when the film was shown at The Essex Film Club in Nutley NJ.

I will also be showing a super 8 multiple colored tinted print of "The Light Of Faith" (1927) which is a short film also Directed by Clarence Brown, and Starring Lon Chaney, and Hope Hampton. The film no longer survives in its original complete form, and was originally titled when it was released "The Light In The Dark"(1922). A Rhode Island film distributor specializing in religious subjects acquired the film in the mid-20's and re-edited it to a 3-reel short, and retitled it to "The Light Of Faith". When this was reedited primarily for schools and churches, it was put on a safety stock, instead of Nitrate, so it wouldn't be flammable and a possible hazard to the students, and church goers. The film will be accompanied by the Bob Lee recording transferred by his son Donald Lee from the original master tapes of Stuart Oderman playing the piano for the film at The Essex Film Club in Nutley NJ.

All films in the series are on Reel Film, and on Thursday evenings through March at 7:30PM at The WOMR Davis Space in The Schoolhouse 494 Commercial St. in Provincetown, MA. There will be a $5 dollar suggested donation to help community supported radio WOMR during the off season. Free Popcorn will be provided by The Provincetown Inn, and Beer, Wine, and Soda will be available for donation too

While the shortened religious version of Light of the Faith was all that was available for a long time, the full length Light in the Dark has been restored and shown at Cinefest.
