These make great Christmas gifts for silent film fans:

Silent Movie Stars Speak: The Lost Recordings

The compilation includes captivating interviews with Blanche Sweet, Lillian Gish, Harold Lloyd, Stan Laurel, Buster Keaton, Ethel Barrymore, John Barrymore, Lionel Barrymore, and Bronco Billy. They reveal their lives and innermost feelings about their struggles to succeed in the film industry.

The other recordings are of performances given on wax cylinder records, 78 rpm records, film, wire, or on radio transcriptions. You will hear:

Ramon Novarro in a moving, romantic monologue
Mary Pickford in a heart-wrenching dramatic scene
Jackie Coogan in a funny, witty skit with his father
Charlie Chaplin’s wistful, expressive voice in a moving, dramatic monologue
Laurette Taylor in a touching monologue from Peg O’ My Heart
Sarah Bernhardt in a passionate speech from a 19th century play
Douglas Fairbanks in a bravura monologue from Shakespeare
Gloria Swanson in a haunting monologue from a live performance of Sunset Boulevard.
John Gilbert’s rich baritone in a fascinating dramatic monologue.
Greta Garbo’s deep, Swedish-accented contralto in a stunning speech
William S. Hart in the finale delivers the heartrending farewell speech he gave in a Prologue for the 1930s re-release of his film, Tumbleweeds.

Hi David, sounds like a nice collection.
But I'm only interested in the Keaton, Harold Lloyd & Broncho Billy interviews.
(I think I have the Stan Laurel).
Are the above 3 available at $7. each (plus postage)?

And BTW: Does anyone have any of the Talking Photo Corporation, Talk-O-Photo records?
They circulated around 1920 and some of the discs included Mildred Harris Chaplin, Mary Miles Minter,
Gloria Swanson, Mae Murray, Bert Lytell, William Russell, and Anita Stewart among others.
According to an ad: "The only unbreakable phonograph record with a photo of your favorite star,
and autograph, and an intimate chat by the star." Price was any three for $1. (one dollar).

Thanks friends,

SteveR, Phila

Interesting material, David, and at a good price too. I think a number of items are movie soundtracks, others are from radio. John and Lionel Barrymore appeared together on radio a few times in 1941, and once with sister Ethel joining them from NY. The brothers even did a scene from RICHARD III on Rudy Vallee's show. I'm still laughing over the line , "Lionel, they call your brother John 'the Great Profile,' but what do they call you?" Lionel's answer: "The nearest living relative with property."

William S. Hart also appeared on Vallee's show in the mid 30s to recite his poem, "Pinto Ben." I have I recording of it that I should download here - ol' Bill gives quite a performance!

Here's photo of Mary Pickford on her 1936 radio show, PARTIES AT PICKFAIR, with guest Errol Flynn. How often do you see these two together?
