Did you possibly mean "The Mexican" a short from 1914?

It's not the same thing as this item currently on eBay, is it?

There seems to always be people who find an old reel of film and think it is worth thousands! This practice is so common there are threads on collector forums just listing them. (16mmfilmtalk.com and 35mmforum.com as well as Nitrateville)
Actually, there are only extremely rare cases where there is this kind of monetary value for film.

I wonder how the $5000 value was arrived at? These 16mm "kiddie" film editions (just 3 minute excerpts of much longer movies) were made by the thousands back in the 1930s through the 1960s and seldom bring more than the eBay seller has it listed for $9.95--which is even a bit high for a tiny 100 foot reel of film.

Now if you had a complete 35MM print of Laurel & Hardy's HATS OFF or ROGUE SONG those would be one of those rare cases.

Funny that you joined Nitrateville yesterday. Presumably just to sell a reel of film...

I think it's a typo and the decimal point was put in the wro0ng place. It needs to be shifted three places to the left.

What an outstanding find on that rare 16mm film. I've been meaning to put my one of a kind copy of Blackhawk Films classic, "Prevue 8" up for sale. It's preserved it a very rare small gauge format, which was exclusively produced by Blackhawk in the 1920s. It's definitely worth a few thousand in the original box. If anyone is interested, send me a PM.

I've got an old 78rpm gramophone record of Bing Crosby singing "White Christmas" - this must be worth at least $500 as there were only 567,678,987,000 copies made.
