Hi,

I am new to this site and am desperately searching for some rare footage from the series I Dream of Jeannie. This is the 50th anniversary of the premiere of I Dream of Jeannie and I am hoping to find some rare "extras" such as contest promos the series did during it's original run in seasons 2-5 as well as a "holiday tag" that is at the end of an episode from season 2. There were NO holiday episodes produced so this would be a great find. I know these things only exist from the original NBC network 16mm reels as they are not in the syndicated versions of the show. There are also some commercials Barbara Eden did during the 2nd season of the show "plugging" products from Colgate Palmolive (as Jeannie inside the bottle). I have exhausted many avenues to no avail including many "Jeannie" websites, Ebay, and even contacting Sony. To my knowledge these things have only been seen on the 16mm network prints previously mentioned. If anyone knows of anyone or any place I should contact, I would greatly appreciate it. Maybe there are collectors who deal specifically in original network 16mm prints of TV shows from the 50s and 60s???

Much Thanks,
Blake

Networks would have been using 35mm, not 16.

Paul,
It was actually common practice for initial network showings to run a 35mm print out of NY with a 16mm running simultaneously out of NJ (?). This was done as a back-up in case of any issues with the telecine in NY.

Thanks. Now that you mention it, I vaguely remember hearing about that practice at some point in the distant past. I think it was referring to a similar procedure on the West Coast, although I think both films were being run at NBC Burbank.

If I'm not mistaken, even into the 70s, the networks were sending 16mm prints and kinescopes of shows to some stations that didn't have ready access to the network lines.

Another possible source to check out would be the Advertising collections at Duke University's Rubenstein Library. They have the archival materials for several of the big Mad Avenue advertising agencies, including reels of commercials - they've transferred some to digital.
