The Fairlane in Argentina was actually one of the earliest version of the Gran Torino that Ford offered as a sedan only. The name was changed because Kaiser launched its own Torino three years earlier.
With the Fairlane, Ford was trying to target a high class market with a luxurious model. While the model was a success (it was manufactured for 13 years) its commercials range from excellent to silly or frankly bad, particularly when JWT was trying to target the intended market. The best ones are those in which they are intended for general buyers.
The very first commercial, however, is notable because the car is almost never shown.
And as treat, thanks to a different video, I was able to remove the voice of the announcer and make the music last a bit longer.
