Opel K-180 (1975)

A bad commercial campaign could damage a company, if they are not good people will loose their jobs. In 1975 in Argentina General Motors dropped their popular Chevrolet 400 and replaced it with the Opel K-180 in order to compete with the popular Ford Taunus reintroduced successfully the previous year. Like the Taunus, the Opel k-180 was also a German design car and, in fact, the Argentine version, was actually an improvement with a stronger motor lifted from the defunct Chevrolet 400.

Although the car was good, the McCann-Erickson promotional campaign was such a disaster that the local branch of GM went bankrupt and three years later they had to close all of their Argentine operations. But the lessons were NOT learned, McCann-Erickson still produce bad commercials for GM insisting with pan regional commercials that don't work and that are very annoying.

I can't tell you all of the mistakes in this commercials, but it is impressive that it features a lot of them is less than two minutes.

Incredible. Was it specifically aimed at Nazi war criminals?
