Thanks. I got lost in the bold type when it said recording. Anything to do with the '50s, actors and recording I immediately think 16mm dupe from screen or U-Matic, though those videotapes came much later.

In fact a lot of British stuff including ALL of the missing Doctor Who, Till Death, Frost Report and The 1948 Show still exists as "off-air audio-only".
A bit like the Vitaphone situation, really. Especially as there are also kinescopes of which the audio track was lost.
