I am very sad. I know that as an actor, creating a character as iconic as Mr. Spock is a double-edged sword; very few actors get the opportunity to tap into the zeitgeist like Nimoy did, but he did end up trapped in the role. He seemed to accept that as time passed (I'm sure making a decent salary off the movies helped.) I hope he was proud of his characterization, he should have been; I know quite a few scientists who became scientists because of Mr. Spock, and Nimoy himself was a talented and good man. For me, personally, the only heaven I've ever been interested in going to is Star Trek. Rest in peace, Mr. Nimoy. Infinite diversity in infinite combination.

I paused today to remember a man who made such an impression on me in a wonderful sci-fi show fifty years ago. As he is now off on his final voyage beyond the final frontier, I wish him well on his journey.
