TCM Four-Paks a Bargain Jack Benny Would Buy

Post by Phillyrich » Sat Oct 08, 2011 10:44 am

I just picked up a TCM four film pack for 11 bucks at bestbuy. It has: 2001, Forbidden Planet, Soylent Green and The Time Machine (1960). I had bought the Hitchcock 4 with: Strangers on a Train, Suspicion, The Wrong Man--good mid-level Alfred.

To my surprise, the sets also have a lot of the extra features ported over from the original, single dvds.

Imagine buying: The Gay Divorcee, Top Hat, Swingtime, etc on one set. Ditto for Captain Blood Robin Hood, Seahawk, Don Juan. Many of the sets are being discounted, heavily.

I remember the days of $79.95 Magnetics vhs tapes. Ugh. I thought Top Hat was a bargain on sale for $ 24 from the Nostalgia Merchant.

For once, the studios are offering a good deal. Even Jack Benny would be sending Rochester over in the Maxwell to pick up more than one.

The only downside I can see is that they are double sided discs (one film to a side), and made in Mexico.

Lots of DVDs are made in Mexico like music cassettes were in times gone by. Universal have stuff pressed there.
