Forbidden Hollywood #7

Another entry in the Forbidden Hollywood series has been released, and it's a pretty good one; go to http://www.wbshop.com/product/code/1000 ... IDDEN7home" target="_blank" target="_blank for more info.
I believe all four of these titles have been shown previously on TCM, but they are probably worth having on DVD -- at $10 each, it's a good deal. I didn't expect to like THE HATCHET MAN, with Edward G. Robinson and Loretta Young in Chinese makeup, but I was impressed by the acting and the plot, even if it strained credulity at times. SKYSCRAPER SOULS and EMPLOYEE'S ENTRANCE are fine vehicles for Warren William, who has a great line as he invites Maureen O'Sullivan to a pool party at his penthouse -- "Why don't you take off your clothes and join us?" I haven't seen the Bette Davis film EX-WIFE, but it sounds like it might be worthwhile.
Warners says these films are "newly remastered," which isn't the same as "restored," but they looked pretty good when they aired on TCM. And it's good to see these pre-Code items back in circulation again, even if it look 70+ years for it to happen. Kudos to Warners for making them available! SETH
