That's a shame. She was very memorable in the Marlowe film. 95 though!

In 1999, TCM aired a short 7 minute documentary, "Cruel Beauty: Women Of Film Noir." Seated around a table were actresses Audrey Totter, Coleen Gray, Marie Windsor and Jane Greer. Scott Glenn was the moderator. Now, with Audrey Totter's passing, only Coleen Gray remains. On YouTube, someone posted a flash video of "Cruel Beauty" made from a VHS recording with pretty good quality, even though you see the vertical blanking interval ribbon at the bottom (in what would be the overscan area on a TV set). The XviD transcode I made of my VHS recording of this TCM short leaves something to be desired, there was a lot of grain in the black and white video, possibly because I recorded the airing at the EP speed. TCM may air "Cruel Beauty: Women Of Film Noir" again as part of a day set aside to show Audrey Totter films in the near future, to mark the passing of another Hollywood star.

Does TCM usually edit a "TCM Remembers" for the year if someone passes in the last few weeks of the year, after it has already been shown? I just wonder if anyone remembers what they have done in the past.

Audrey's performance in Lady In the Lake was really ... well, amazing. Playing directly into the camera must have been incredibly daunting, and she came up with such a flamboyant and yet not-quite-over-the-top tour de force.

Plus she was so damned hot in that film. In other films, too, but that particular one had me lusting after her a lot more than Robert Montgomery was doing, despite the obviousness of Bob's interest in her. It made me her drooling fan for life.

That is so sad really. She is one of my favorite actresses. I love her in The Postman Always Rings Twice!

Wonderful Film Noir actress. I had a chance to meet her at a book signing ("Dames of Film Noir") at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood. I asked her if she enjoyed working with Edmond O'Brien in "Man in the Dark" (1953) She paused and said "you know I'd forgotten all about this (working with O'Brien)." Since I was in a book sighing line, I had to move along and that was the end of the conversation. Thanks for all the great performances Audrey!
