According to the web page below, the TCM Vault Blu-ray release has had an update to correct several problems with the original release. From that page:

"...technically oriented Blu-Ray fans expressed online disappointment at the single-layer disc and its standard-def audio, lack of subtitles, omission of an Eddie Muller extra mentioned on the website, and DVD-sized packaging. In most cases, that would be it, yet a couple of weeks ago, customers who ordered the title from MoviesUnlimited reported receiving a significantly different package. For reasons unknown, TCM silently corrected many of the complaints made about their initial pressing and silently re-released the movie."

The page says that there are still no subtitles on the newer release. Instructions are given on how to get a replacement.

The new version is quite different. The dark stuff is VERY dark... almost no detail in the shadows. Very contrasty. I'm not sure the first version wasn't better.

I've got the first TCM Blu-ray combo release, which comes in a DVD case, and despite its fairly low bitrate and Dolby Digital audio it looks truly spectacular and sounds very good. It's certainly better-looking than any film print I've ever been able to see, much less any video versions.
I have not yet applied to get a replacement copy with the higher bitrate, lossless audio, and additional bonus feature. I've seen other reports of the "improved" replacement edition that also mention a one-frame pixellization glitch at 1:16:47 when Rita Hayworth is going into a theatre.
I think I'll just keep the version I've got, which I know looks great even if it might look still better with less compression, rather than trading it sight-unseen for something that sounds iffy.
