Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has announced the Blu-ray release of director George Cukor's 1939 classic The Women, starring Norma Shearer, Joan Crawford, Rosalind Russell, Paulette Goddard, Joan Fontaine, Mary Boland, Ruth Hussey, Marjorie Main, Lucile Watson, Phyllis Povah, Virginia Grey, Hedda Hopper, Florence Nash and Mary Cecil. The film makes its Blu-ray debut on May 6th.

Official Synopsis: Be careful what you say in private. It could become a movie. Some gossip overheard by Clare Boothe Luce in a nightclub powder room inspired her Broadway hit that's wittily adapted for the screen in The Women. Cukor directs an all-female cast (of more than 135 actresses) in this catty tale of battling and bonding that paints its claws Jungle Red and shreds the excesses of pampered Park Avenue princesses. Crawford, Russell, Fontaine, Boland and Goddard are among the array of husband snatchers, snitches and lovelorn ladies.

The Women is presented in 1080p with DTS-HD Master Audio. No word yet as to whether the lossless track is a 5.1 surround or 2.0 stereo mix. Special features include:
From the Ends of the Earth (Documentary)
Hollywood: Style Center of the World (Documentary)
Alternate Black-and-White Fashion Show Sequence with Different Footage
Scoring Session Music Cues
Theatrical Trailers: The Women (1939) and its 1956 Musical Remake The Opposite Sex

Just curious, but did the black and white prints of "The Women" floating around on 16mm have a black and white version of the Technicolor fashion show or the black and white "alternate" version that's a bonus on this disc?

I saw it on an MGM 16mm print at my local public library in the early 80s and the whole print was BW.
