Can't believe no one has yet posted anything on the death of Coleen Gray last week at age 92. Not enough film noir fans on Nitrateville, maybe? She also did a lot of TV in the 1950s-70s. Unless I'm confusing her with another noir actress, I seem to recall she might have attended the Cinecon banquet last year. I first noticed mention of her passing in a Blu-ray.com discussion thread about film noir last week. Her 1958 film HELL'S FIVE HOURS just came out on Blu-ray four weeks ago. Her performances in THE KILLING (1956), KANSAS CITY CONFIDENTIAL (1952), RED RIVER (1948), and a bit part in STATE FAIR (1945) have been on Blu-ray for some time.

Re: Coleen Gray (1922-2015)
Certainly the papers over here in Blighty (with perhaps the exception of The Guardian and The Daily Telegraph), are still squeezing more juice out of the death of Cilla Black, admittedly a much more widely-known name, and not to disparage any achievements / affection for her. Not to mention digging up stuff about the supposed vile doings of folk who have been dead a long time.*Christopher Jacobs wrote:Can't believe no one has yet posted anything on the death of Coleen Gray last week at age 92. *this is not necessarily to deny / excuse such accusations, but it is surely those responsible for any covering-up who need investigating rather than those who are beyond punishment

Not unlike Mother Teresa having the misfortune to die on the same day as Princess Diana (Mother who?). The press and the public can be very shallow.

Other then writer Laura Wagner's post on Facebook, I have not seen any news stories on Gray's death. Here is a blog post by Andre Soares on her death.

Somehow I'll always remember her as Francis X. Bushman's daughter who gets menaced by Richard Kiel in THE PHANTOM PLANET...

Re: Coleen Gray (1922-2015)
No matter how small the role, she was always memorable. Her Red River lines may seem a bit over-the-top, but she delivers them with an ingenuousness that makes them seem right and natural. I remember wondering what other movies she was in that I might want to seek out.
