Although mainly remembered for his television work, particularly 'On the Buses' (as 'Blakey', the Inspector), and 'Last of the Summer Wine', Stephen Lewis did make quite a few films from 1962 through to 1990, although they were usually supporting roles, some being of the 'blink and miss him' variety.
He did, of course star in the three 'On the Buses' spin-offs, and whatever one might think of them as films, they did their bit to slow the onward march of the bingo-hall in the early and mid-1970s and still have their adherents, despite saturation showing on 'freeview' channels. A glance at his imdb credits shows a reasonable, if not substantial tally of film appearances, which should justify his appearance here.

His appearance is (far) more than justified here and I dearly love the On the Buses films, as well as the series.
RIP Stephen and thanks for the memories.

"I 'ate yew, Butlerl!" will forever stay in my mind. He seemed to always play the role of the put-upon sad sack. Hope he has happier times in heaven.
