CHANDU....from Kino (blu-ray)

Just had a chance to view CHANDU THE MAGICIAN (1932) from Kino, part of their recent Fox deal. It looks great in HD considering a film of its vintage in the Fox library (some vertical scratches, etc.). The DVD extras have been ported over. Cover art is reversible, one side with the old DVD art (somewhat based on poster art) and the other with vintage art (? poster detail). Good job from Kino. If you're a fan of the film, it's a worthwhile release. Reminds me of a Saturday matinee serial and Bela Lugosi easily steals the film as the super villain, replete with a lair under an ancient Egyptian tomb! And of course it's a William Cameron Menzies film, so it's stylish to boot.

I got my copy yesterday. Going to watch it this weekend. The Beaver review is very positive. Can't wait.
