Her New York Times obituary:

She was beautiful, charming and able. We are fortunate to have witnessed so many of her performances.

Delightful actress--what a long life!

BTW...was just running the other night her delightful 1938 Universal comedy with Doug Fairbanks, Jr. RAGE OF PARIS.

Would be glad to send forum members a decent transfer DVD of this cute public domain picture for $3 postpaid in USA.

SEND ME A PRIVATE MESSAGE HERE ON NITRATEVILLE.

What a wonderfully long life! She truly was a delightful actress: Rage of Paris, Taras Bulba, Alexander the Great, The Young Girls of Rochefort, and so many others.

RIP and thank you for all your work.

Another one gone - but one can't say she didn't have a good innings. She leaves behind work she can be very proud of. R.I.P.

A long life indeed. I like her in Rich, Young and Pretty and The Rage of Paris.

Hands down my favorite "non-American film" actress, beautiful and incredibly talented. I'm kind of angry the Academy Awards never honored her with the career achievement Oscar - she most certainly deserved one!!

Can't be sad when someone who was lucky enough to make it to 100 passes away but it is bittersweet knowing there will be no more films from the wonderful star (who was still active in French films well into the 21st century.)

Can we perhaps get a Darrieux masthead photo for Nitrateville for a while?

It's up to Mike, of course, but it would be nice. I'd like one of her in mid-stride. It was a pleasure to watch her walk. She always looked like she was going some place.

The critic John Simon devoted his blog to a Darrieux tribute recently: http://uncensoredsimon.blogspot.com/201 ... rieux.html" target="_blank
