There's also a great documentary called "The Fabulous Ice Age" available on DVD about the history and the Golden Age of ice shows like Ice Capades and Holiday on Ice, and it includes a fair amount of running time and material on Sonja Henie.

I've recently been taking another look at the other skating star who went into the movies: Vera Hruba (Ralston)

She was runner up behind Sonja Henie in the Olympics, and didn't have a major studio behind her movie career.

When you think of foreign ladies who became big stars such as Ingrid Bergman, Hedy Lamarr and others
of that era, they, too all had European accents that often worked out well in their pictures.

Unfortunately, Vera didn't get the same breaks that often. When you consider she was a star at Republic between 1941 and 1958, that was a long run! In my opinion she was a pretty and decent person who the public didn't take to like Henie and the others. I think she was just as capable an actress compared to
Sonja Henie, despite her having to overcome her lack of skill at speaking English at first.

I recently saw a great NOIR she was in THE FLAME (1947) with Broderick Crawford and John Carroll.
It was on YouTube but not there now. I believe it had been on one of the major streaming channels.
