Probably best known on stage and television (stuttering Jim Trott in 'The Vicar of Dibley', a D-Day veteran in a special episode of 'Eastenders', etc.), this versatile character actor appeared also in a number of films including HAMLET (1990), the 1999 A CHRISTMAS CAROL, and QUARTET (2012).

He was also a songwriter, with 'Mrs Brown, You've Got a Lovely Daughter' for 'Herman's Hermits and featuring in the 1968 film of the same name...
