This is a real longshot: Does anyone have a copy -- or know the whereabouts of a copy -- of "A Tribute to Clarine Seymour?"
This was written by Edward Wagenknecht in 1920. It was a privately printed 15 page pamphlet. In Professor Wagenknecht's "As Far As Yesterday" he indicates that there were no more than ten produced. Some were bound in leather; others in paper.
Boston University, where Professor Wagenknecht's papers are archived, does not have it. Neither does his family. I'm checking with other universities and libraries.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I can locate a copy, I will add it to the tribute to Professor Wagenknecht that has just been posted on my web site. Please see "Remembering Edward Wagenknecht" at http://www.charlesdickensonscreen.com" target="_blank
Please reply direct to: [email protected]" target="_blank
Thanks!

Re: Re Edward Wagenknecht & Clarine Seymour
Fred,
Just a suggestion - have you tried contacting Tony Slide since he worked with Wagenknecht on silent film books? Also, is it possible that Wagenknecht reworked his "Tribute" and used it in a later publication? I'm thinking that writers rarely let anything pass to oblivion if it can be recycled for later use on a related topic. Best of luck!

Hi --
Thank you so much for your response!
You raise a good point. I should have mentioned that Professor Wagenknecht's 1987 book "Stars of the Silents" contains (in a slightly revised form) some of what is contained in the pamphlet. See pages 45--47.
However, even Anthony Slide has not seen the original pamphlet. It is beyond rare. And he confirms that there were no other contributors. As such, there may well be more that was written by Professor Wagenknecht. I suppose it is possible that there may also be illustrations of some kind.
My hope is that the entire pamphlet -- whatever it may contain -- can be made available to fans and scholars on my web site.
Also, I am honored to note that Mr. Slide has contributed a wonderful account of his friendship with Professor Wagenknecht as part of "Remembering Edward Wagenknecht."
