I thought I'd share this. Miss Love might have been eerily amused, I don't know. The Tasmanian Examiner July 10 1947

Reminescent of the front-page story that ran all over the country around the time of WW I claiming Annie Oakley to have been jailed on a drug charge, when the culprit was some petty criminal who'd given that name. Annie sued them all, only the Hearst papers refusing, initially, to retract the story or apologize.

I was reading an old Photoplay issue online and it stated that a woman by the name of Betty Thompson had found her mother at a poorhouse. It also stated a reporter misheard her name as Betty Compson, and that was how it was reported for some days. Oops.

This is quite interesting to me in that Bess K True was a regular in a number of Weiss Brother Comedies of the late 1920's. She can even be seen in several shorts on the VCI WEISS-O-RAMA set, including the Izzie and Lizzie short MOVIE MANIA. Please tell us more.
