Has this fantastic film been discussed before?

"Claire" was directed by Milford Thomas, and released around 2001. THIS is THE one that captures 1920's filmmaking perfectly. In fact, you have to watch closely to see if you can find anything that looks contemporary in any scene.

According to one review, this short movie was "shot with an antique hand-cranked 35 mm camera" and looks amazing. The story, however, is all FANTASY, as in Fairy Tale. It comes from an old Japanese folk legend about a girl who comes down from the moon to bring joy into the lives of an elderly couple. And it is sheer magic from beginning to end.

I won't give too much away. The enchantment of this marvelous story is best enjoyed as a surprise! If you like cinematic fantasy, this is the film for you.

Has anyone else had the pleasure of seeing it?

Saw this post and quickly added 'Claire' to my Netflix queue. Watched it today. A little story that runs about 50 minutes. A wonderfully done Silent, something that might have been the envy of Silent film directors had they been able to see this. A clearly told story that uses no titles at all. Best part of that is there's no interruption to the film.

I couldn't help but think of Renoir and the many silents featuring his wife, Catherine Hessling. The actress here is incredibly alluring, her eyes and pouting lips are unforgettable. Many of the expressions on her face reminded me of the older Catherine Hessling Silents.

For anyone concerned about the homosexual theme mentioned, there's nothing to distract you from enjoying this.

Think I watch a few more time before sending it back.
