:( OK this is another question in the contest that I have found nothing about anyplace. Can anyone help here? Time is running out here very shortly! Surely someone will know this? They do not clarify shorts or features? Thanks.

Who is it?

MADE A CAREER PLAYING OAFISH, HILLBILLY/COUNTRY PERSONS. APPEARED IN 4 FILMS WITH W.C. FIELDS. It does not say rather it is an actor or actress they are talking about.

It's probably Grady Sutton. It is legal to ask for trivia answers on another movie-related forum?

Bruce,

:? Went through Fields entire filmography. I couldn't find any person he worked with four times? Unless I missed it, my best guess would be Chester Conklin or Leon Erroll? But did either really play country bumpkins? Never saw Sutton's name at all. What films was he in with W. C.?

Definitely Grady Sutton-- He's in The Pharmacist (1933), Man on the Flying Trapeze (1935), You Can't Cheat an Honest Man (1939) and The Bank Dick (1940). I never really thought of him as a hillbilly but he had a very pronounced southern (Tennessee) accent. He's Og Ogleby, Fields' daughter's boyfriend in "The Bank Dick."

:? OK, TCM Movie Data base doesn't list him in any of those films that I saw. Thanks guys. What about the other three questions in the earlier thread? any of you know those? The rolling a Cig in 5 seconds with one hand perhaps?

Actually Sutton was not in the Fields film YOU'RE TELLING ME - that was a feature released in 1934. Sutton appeared in a 1932 comedy short with the same title but not with Fields -- so it was indeed four films.

Oh, of course, you are right. Thanks for the correction.

Also, I would not describe Grady Sutton's character as an oafish/hillbilly type. More of a slow walkin', slow talkin' Southerner type...

More likely it's Bill Wolfe, the guy who plays Otis (is he ever called that in the film?), the gaunt man standing in a bar that Field's asks about Boondoggling in The Bank Dick. Otis shows up later in the film as the patient in Dr. Stall's office. Wolfe was also in Poppy, You Can't Cheat an Honest Man, My Little Chickadee, and Never Give a Sucker an Even Break.

:( Actually it turned out to be Grady Sutton after-all. Even though TCM Movie Data Base failed to list the guy in the cast of most of, if not all four films. Err, Wolfe isn't listed either that I could see? Incidentally, I was a second place winner! :D Just one away from getting a hundred percent of the 15 questions correct. So thanks for the help folks.
