The Light in the Dark (1922)

Post by telical » Mon Jan 20, 2014 11:16 pm

My avatar and I want to know about "The Light in the Dark," which was believed lost until found around 15 years ago. A restored version of six reels was shown at Cinefest in Syracuse, NY in March 2003. The GEH has a copy of it.
What are the chances of it coming to DVD?

Yes, but this is the truncated, three reel version, NOT the six reel version.

So, one of the few remaining Lon Chaney, Sr. movies known to exist,
and no one is interested in releasing it to the public? Funny, as he
is considered one of the greatest actors of all time.

I am not going to start a kickstarter for this because of other imporant
focuses right now, but I wish someone would. It would do a great
justice to silent films. It would have the promotion draw of Chaney, who is
still known to many movie enthusiasts, the religious subject matter,
and the current silent film buzz.

Will GEH release this to a commercial company? To an individual with the
funds? Do they make the cost prohibitive?
