When I worked at Universal we used to request a golf cart and ride all over the lot, anywhere we wanted. I remember walking into stage 28 and looking at the old sets, lights were out so was kind of dark in there.

Beyond awesome. I'd be listening for ghosts of movies past filmed there.

Pasquale, yes! Having a golf cart on the lot is awesome. We used to picnic on the backlot, even up at the Psycho house (and inside it). I miss that very much.

Tracy wrote:Here is a link that will take you to 5 photos that I took today (June 12, 2014) on the Phantom set. I also did a close up to show that the set is in remarkably great shape. You can see workers are also using the other part of the soundstage, as is the norm. Hope you enjoy seeing recent photos of a historic Hollywood set!

Thanks you very much for the pics. They are awesome!
Check out my British television blog: From The Archive http://www.from-the-archive.co.uk/ for a look at the randomly selected program I am watching that week.

Wow thank you for sharing Tracey and for taking to time to photograph the set and then post the pictures on line for us to see.

Don. It's actually smaller than I thought?? Where is the grand staircase that Chaney stood on in Technicolor? That doesn't appear to have survived? All that seems to have survived are a massive wing of audience stages and private boxes. I can count 4 storeys, but they appear to be doing some work on the ground (?) floor? Is that right Tracey?
