Now that my commute has gone from 5 minutes to 45 minutes, I am looking for some good listening material. I often listen to OTR on my Ipad to and from work, but would like to find some podcasts to listen to. I love The Commentary Track and have listened to all but one or two. I listened to a couple Warner Archive podcasts, but that was mostly advertising films they were releasing. Does anyone know of any good podcasts I can download from Itunes to listen to while I drive?

It's not on iTunes as far as I know, but the Hollywood Time Machine show with Alicia Mayer and Will McKinley shows have gotten off to a good start. They have several guests each show (including Nitrateville members) talking about upcoming events, rather than one guest for more than an hour like Frank's The Commentary Track.

Filmspotting is a show that's mostly about current movies, but if you dig through their archives (and they have over 400 past shows) there are plenty that deal with classic film topics for at least part of the show.

My silent film music podcast had episodes posted in 2012-2013. This may be of interest.

I listen to a lot of podcasts but haven't found many movie-related shows that I like. Most of them seem to be centered on reviews and I hate reviews. So, most of the shows that I listen to are either comedy or literary (my favorite podcast is "A Podcast to the Curious" in which two interesting chaps talk about the stories of M. R. James). And of course sometimes comedy and literature cross paths as in the often hilarious "Dead Authors." The best interview podcasts, I think, are Marc Maron's WTF and Kevin Pollak's Chat Show. And I'm getting a real kick out of Gilbert Gottfried's show which has had an incredibly eclectic lineup of guests from Dick Cavett to Barbara Felton. And if you're a fan of old-time radio and new-time comedy, I highly recommend "The Thrilling Adventure Hour."

PS - my podcast will get a reboot, with new episodes posting in Jan 2015.

I check out Classic Film Jerks from time-to-time. They review classic films and determine if they think they are truly classics or not, and also recast the film with current actors.

Leonard Maltin has a new weekly podcast called Maltin on Movies, with a different topic each week, and an amiable co-host in comedian Baron Vaughan. They pick a topic, either a certain actor or filmmaker, or a genre, and talk about 3 different examples of each: a must-see, a must-to-avoid, and an under-the-radar sleeper. I imagine they'll mix up the format as the show progresses, but I like it when Leonard is working off the cuff (why else would I sit through the Sunday morning auction at Cinefest?). He even dropped an F-bomb the other day, saints preserve us!

I second the recommendation for Thrilling Adventure Hour, brilliant comedy and a great take on new-timey Old Time Radio, complete with fake sponsors (Workjuice Coffee, Patriot Brand Cigarettes). You can listen to any of them in any order, save for Sparks Nevada, Marshall on Mars, which has pretty strong ongoing continuity, but you can probably jump in anywhere and get the gist.

The Commentary Track -- The essential classic film podcast.

Gilbert Gottfried's Amazing Colossal Podcast -- Comedians and showbiz veterans swapping hilarious (often blue) behind-the-scenes Hollywood stories. Imagine the beginning of Broadway Danny Rose as a podcast.

James Bonding - Each episode focuses in-depth on a single James Bond film with hosts Matt Gourley and Matt Mira, plus a guest comedian. If you listen to the podcasts in order, they alternate films from front-to-back and back-to-front (Dr. No, then Skyfall, then From Russia With Love, then Quantum of Solace... eventually hitting a lot of Roger Moore in the middle).

I Was There Too - This is a new podcast that I haven't sampled yet, but it totally sounds like it is in my wheelhouse. Matt Gourley of the James Bonding podcast gets inside accounts on the making of famous films from actors who played bit parts. The first episode features comedian Paul F. Tompkins discussing the set of There Will Be Blood.

Linoleum Knife - There are a lot of movie review podcasts, but Linoleum Knife is different in that it is hosted by respected Los Angeles film critics Dave White and Alonso Duralde, who also happen to be a same-sex married couple. There is often as much bickering and household discussion as movie reviewing, so it is always interesting and funny, even when you don't care about the movie being discussed.

My Brother, My Brother, and Me - This has nothing to do with classic or current movies, but if you like to laugh, you should check out the funniest podcast currently produced. The McElroy brothers give hilariously awful advice to listeners' questions.

This is just a two-part episode of a podcast, but PRI's Studio 360 has a pair of shows on 2001: A Space Odyssey, well-trodden ground but nevertheless with some interesting segments, such as Newsday critic Joseph Gelmis talking about how he panned it and then, a few weeks later, retracted that review and published a new one saying it was a masterpiece. Also, Tom Hanks with an a cappella version of Also Sprach Zarathustra.
