Feu Mathias Pascal (1926)

I recently discovered this film via Flicker Alley's Blu-ray. It's such an entertaining ride that you hardly notice that the running time is just under 3 hours! L'Herbier was clearly a genius and one wishes to see more of Ivan Mosjoukine (aka Mozzhukhin). If you've never seen this one, I HIGHLY recommend it.

Yet another example of the wonderful art and entertainment value silent film can provide. Too bad many folks won't open themselves up to viewing silent (much less black & white) films! Of course, it's partially in the presentation; Flicker Alley and associates make this one sparkle.

CASANOVA (1927) is on the Internet Archive (key in 'Casanova' and 'Ivan'), though not with the Georges Delerue score. That one was on YT, and may still be there...

You should get Flicker Alley's HOUSE OF MYSTERY serial starring Mosjuokine. This is a very entertaining early serial comparable to a modern mini series. Also Flicker's FRENCH MASTEWORKS five film set which contains three of his films including the one you already have. All excellent films.

Thanks, guys, I'll check those out. I have the DVD of HOUSE OF MYSTERY and did enjoy that one. I asked Flicker Alley if they had any plans to release it on Blu-ray and they said "no." I've seen worse quality transfers on Blu-ray, but I guess they have their reasons. The blu of L'Herbier's L’INHUMAINE is also wonderful and an amazing film.

I've had my eyes on that Albatros set for awhile now! You may have convinced me to pull the trigger........
