Hope you don't mind me sharing... In the tradition of such classics as NOSFERATU & HAXAN, and with a dash of early American film (Famous Players Film Company, D.W. Griffith, etc.) comes GARDEN OF SOULS. A horror photoplay in that harkens back to the old tinted silent films of yesteryear. Partly filmed on-location in Hollywood before Hollywood -- Fort Lee, NJ. Dedicated to film pioneers D.W. Griffith and Mary Pickford.



Peter Krasinki’s improvised score for this short film was the first and only take and recorded on the 1913 Hutchings-Votey Organ in Providence, Rhode Island. Peter specializes in silent film accompaniment and plays numerous shows throughout the country year round.

The look and style were replicated quite well. The story isn't the greatest, and the climactic scene was unfortunately muffed, but I still enjoyed it. The old crone was quite well played.

Thanks! It's far from perfect (that's a $0 budget) but we're pleased with it and it seems to be generally received quite well.

Lots a views, little comments. I realize nothing will top the classics, but if you've got an opinion -- good or bad -- I'd love to hear it! It's certainly not without it's flaws, but it's generally been well received.

I meant to comment on this last week. This was quite convincing and superbly done- the focus, the lighting, the locations. The effects shots were right out of the period. The filmmakers have clearly done their homework, and I enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing with us!

Thanks, Jason! That was the goal -- to capture the atmosphere of yesterday which really isn't easy 100 years later. The filmmakers tried (and by filmmakers, I mean me.)
