I was just watching "The Divine Lady" and noticed the scenes with the delightful Marie Dressler. The title cards appeared in a cockney slang accent. It kind of hurt my ears(!) because I know what Dressler's voice sounds like and I 'ardly 'ear 'er speak in this kind of dialect.
Has anyone else been bothered by titles written for actors whose voice just does not fit the titles?

Like every hillbilly Pickford picture complete with the backwoods slang? Sparrows comes to mind. Mary didnt do good with accents...I cant imagine her pulling off southern backwoods!Danny wrote:I was just watching "The Divine Lady" and noticed the scenes with the delightful Marie Dressler. On a vaguely related note I love how Valentino's title cards always seemed to match him well...like The Eagle and Four Horsemen when French is used. Fantastic.
